HL Deb 12 December 1990 vol 524 c31WA
Lord Northfield

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, since the provision of the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988 have been in force for some time, they can announce when all firearms and explosives legislation will be consolidated in a single Act.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)

The Government remain of the view that it would be desirable to consolidate the Firearms Acts 1968 to 1988 within a single statute. The timing will be considered as part of the Government's programme of consolidation.

Explosives legislation is distinct from firearms legislation and would not therefore be included in any consolidation of the Firearms Acts.
