To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will give details of the research work carried out at the Institute of Food Research at Norwich which is due to be terminated in 1991.

The following projects, identified as being near-market, are due to terminate in 1991Utilisation of proteins as functional ingredients in processed food products. Optimum conditions for maintaining quality in bulked storage of vegetables.

The Ministry's total expenditure on food R and D is rising from £20.3 million in 1990–91 to £21.4 million in 1991–92.
