To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many resignations there have been from the teaching profession in each year between 1985 and 1989, inclusive, in each local education authority area; and if he will publish figures for(a) the primary sector and (b) the secondary school sector.

[holding answer 28 November 1990]: The number of teachers who have moved out of teaching posts in the maintained education sector is given as follows for the years ending 31 March 1986 to 31 March 1988. Information for 1989 is not yet available, and information prior to 1986 is not readily available.
