To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if his Department has any plans to extend the use of Government special shares.

§ Mr. Redwood
The government have a general prejudice against the creation of special shares, but recognise that a special share may be warranted by the particular circumstances of a privatised company. Each case is assessed on its merits.
