§ Mr. FreemanOlestras are sucrose polyesters classified as food additives by the Food Advisory Committee (FAC). The Committee on Medical Aspects of Food Policy (COMA), in response to a FAC request for advice, has convened a panel to consider the nutritional implications of the consumption of olestra. The panel is currently awaiting further data from the manufacturers.
