To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what assessment he has made of the prospects for Britain's bid for the siting of the European Environment Agency and the European bank for reconstruction and development.

Mr. Maude

We continue to pursue vigorously our bids to have the European Environment Agency and the European bank for reconstruction and development located in the United Kingdom. Both our candidates, Cambridge and London respectively, have an excellent case and are strong contenders.
