§ Mr. Tony LloydTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment when his Department originally commissioned the ministerial review on employment services for people with disabilities; when his Department originally intended to publish the review; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Eggar[holding answer 2 April 1990]: The review of services provided by my Department for the employment of people with disabilities was commissioned in March 587W 1988. It was always intended that the results would only be published after a thorough consideration of all the issues concerned.
As announced in my reply to the right hon. Member for Stoke on Trent, South (Mr. Ashley) on 12 March 1990 (Official Report, column 135], the preparation of the consultative document which will give the results of the review is almost complete. It will be published as soon as account can be taken in it of the results of the survey of people with disabilities in the labour market which my Department has commissioned. We currently anticipate that this will be during the course of June 1990.
