To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will seek to amend the Local Government and Housing Bill to include all or any of the safeguards found in the Poll Tax (Restoration of Individual Privacy) Bill; and if he will make a statement.

No. The existing legislation gives community charge registration officers clearly defined and limited powers to collect information necessary for their statutory functions.
