To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the current budget for expenditure on AIDS and the related educational campaign; and whether the budget has changed from the sums made available for the year 1988–89.

The Department has made the following provision for AIDS-related health and personal social services and health education expenditure in England.

Other Government Departments also spend money in response to. HIV-AIDS, for example, the Department of Education and Science provides funds to the Medical Research Council for its directed programme on AIDS.
