Mr. Parry

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on Her Majesty's Government's present relations with the Republic of Korea.

Our relations with the Republic of Korea are excellent. We look forward to the further strengthening of relations during the visit of President Roh Tae-woo later this month.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if there are any plans to recognise the Democratic People's Republic of Korea; and if he will make a statement.

We have no plans to recognise North Korea.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs which countries in east and west Europe maintain diplomatic relations with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The following countries in East and West Europe have diplomatic relations with North Korea: Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Finland. GDR, Hungary, Iceland, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, USSR, Sweden, Switzerland and Yugoslavia.
