asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they propose to implement recommendation 25.4.8(2) of the committee on enforcement powers of the Revenue Departments (Cmnd. 8822) that "The Chairman of VAT Tribunals should have a status (including salary) at least comparable to that of Circuit Judge".

Her Majesty's Government have no immediate plans to alter the status of the Chairmen of VAT Tribunals.
