§ Mr. DobsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Energy what is his estimate of the present amount of power being fed into the national grid from sources other than the 141W Central Electricity Generating Board, in total and as a percentage; and what is his estimate for future years of the amount and percentage that will be fed in from other than on Central Electricity Generating Board generating capacity.
§ Mr. Wakeham[holding answer 13 November 1989]The CEGB informs me that during 1988–89 a total of 16.4 TWh was provided from outside sources, 6.6 per cent. of the total electricity supplied. The Government's proposals for privatisation will lead to greater competition in electricity generation in future years.
