HC Deb 14 November 1989 vol 160 c230W
115. Mr. Evennett

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps he is taking to ensure that schools teach young people about the dangers of drug abuse.

Mr. Alan Howarth

Under the national curriculum children will be taught about the harmful effects of drugs and other substances. In addition, the important cross-curricular topics of health education and personal and social education will help equip young people with the skills and attitudes they need to resist pressures to misuse drugs, and to lead healthy lives.
