HC Deb 09 November 1989 vol 159 c747W
Mr. Mallon

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what measures are being taken to ensure further effective development of the policy of ensuring that there should be a police presence in operations which involve direct contact between the armed forces and the community; and whether additional police are being recruited for this purpose.

Mr. Cope

[holding answer 6 November 1989]: As agreed between the British and Irish Governments at the last Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Conference meeting on 18 October 1989 a working group has been established on the subject. The results of this work will be considered when they are available.
