To ask the Minister for the Arts what evidence he has that national arts companies and organisations are budgeting for a deficit.

[holding answer 6 November 1989]: My attention has been drawn to the difficulties that some arts organisations have encountered as a result of price movements and other developments. The Arts Council expects those organisations to take account of these factors in setting their budgets for the coming year.
