§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyMy right hon. and learned Friend explained in a speech on 10 July to leading members of the medical academic community how we will safeguard medical education and research. We have placed copies in the Library. We do not believe that multi-centre clinical trials, epidemiological studies, or the dissemination of research results will in general be harmed by our plans for a more efficient Health Service.
