HC Deb 23 March 1989 vol 149 c741W
Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland from which sources he derives information about the number and proportion of disabled people of working age who are unemployed; and what is the latest information provided by those sources in Scotland.

Mr. Lang

The only count made of unemployed people with disabilities is of those who choose to register for work at jobcentres and careers offices. The latest figures available for Scotland show that on 6 January 1989 there were 7,257 unemployed people with disabilities registered for work at jobcentres and careers offices. There is no count made of the total number of people of working age with disabilities.
