§ Mr. CopeThe number of civil servants in my Department whose main task is work wholly or mainly related to the European Economic Community is 33, including clerical and secretarial staff. Of these, 24 staff are concerned with the administration of United Kingdom applications for grants from the European social fund. The gross annual cost in the year to 10 March 1989 of travel and accommodation to and from Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg in connection with this work is £14,233.
