To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on his intentions for the Burscough-Rufford bypass.

Proposals for a bypas of Burscough and Rufford have not been abandoned, although the orders considered at the 1986 public inquiry will be withdrawn shortly. Further consideration is being given to the trunk road network in the Preston to Liverpool corridor.
