To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department who paid for the services of the Metropolitan police officers deployed in Wandsworth prison; and how much it cost.

I understand from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis that although final figures are not yet available the cost of the Metropolitan police services provided at Wandsworth prison is expected to be about £975,000. The cost is being met by the Home Office prison department.
