To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will provide a breakdown of the relevant line of table 5.1 in Chapter 5 of "The Government's Expenditure Plans 1989–90 to 1991–92" (Cm. 605), showing separately the amount of support from central Government given or planned to aerospace, shipbuilding, steel and vehicle manufacture year by year up to and including 1991–92.

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how much shipbuilding intervention fund is included in the planning totals appearing in table 5.1 of chapter 5 of "The Government's Expenditure Plans 1989–90 to 1991–92" (Cm. 605) for each of the three years covered.

[holding answer 24 February 1989]: The provision for private sector shipbuilding intervention fund in table 5.1 is shown in my reply today to the hon. Member's question earlier. There is, in addition, a provision in the British Shipbuilders external financing limit for payments from the shipbuilding intervention fund in respect of those contracts for which the corporation retains responsibility.
