To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what representations he has received on the effects of current interest rates on industry.

I have received a number of representations from business about the effects of interest rates on investment. Investment has continued to rise strongly and the DTI's June survey of investment intentions shows that a rise of 13 per cent. of total investment is expected in 1989, with a further increase in 1990.
