To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, further to his reply of 27 April,Official Report, column 522, concerning installing water treatment plant to meet EEC standards, whether he will publish in the Official Report the sum of the initial projections together with his view of what constitutes a reasonable return capital on capital invested in water undertakings.

Projections of costs are still under discussion with individual water undertakers. We are also still considering the rate of return appropriate for water and sewerage undertakers.
