Whether they have anything to add to the reply given to Lord Sefton of Garston on 22nd March (Official Report, col. 819) about the National Audit Office and Merseyside Development Corporation.
§ Lord HeskethThe report of the Public Accounts Committee was published on 21st June. The Government are studying the report and will be responding in the normal way through a Treasury minute. We have, however, noted the substantial progress now being made by the Merseyside Development Corporation: for example, during 1988/9 a further £17.5 million of private investment was secured and over 500 permanent jobs generated.
