To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will seek to introduce legislation to provide consistent treatment for tax purposes for all freelance and self-employed persons.

[holding answer 20 July 1989]: No. I am not aware of any inconsistency in the legislative treatment, for tax purposes, of people in business on their own account.
