§ Mr. ColvinTo ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will establish a national register of potential donors of organs for transplant.
§ Mr. FreemanAt present we have no plans to establish a national register of potential organ donors. A working party chaired by Sir Raymond Hoffenberg examined such registers, and considered that they were unlikely to have a major impact on organ donation. Before giving further consideration to a national register, we would wish to see evidence that local schemes had proved successful.
