§ Ms. RichardsonTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what child care provision his Department provides for pre-school age children of the Department's employees; what child care provision, for school holiday or after school care, is provided for employees' children aged five years and over; and what plans there are for increasing provision in the next five years; and how these are to be funded.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggAt present, the Home Office provides no facilities for the pre-school age children of its92W staff, but it is examining the feasibility of setting up a nursery in Croydon. A play-scheme for older children already operates there during the school holidays. Children of Home Office staff are also eligible to attend holiday play-schemes in Bootle and Westminster, and the Department has agreed to contribute to the initial funding of these schemes. Further proposals for child care, and their funding, are likely to be considered over the next five years.
