To ask the Minister for the Arts if he will publish in theOfficial Report a list of all national museums, showing for each the adult admission charges in (a) 1978 and (b) the latest year for which figures are available.

I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Clydebank and Milngavie (Mr. Worthington) on 26 May 1988 at column260. Since that date, the science museum introduced in October 1988 an adult admission charge of £2 (with concessionary charge of LI) at the museum in South Kensington.

In 1978, admission charges were made by the following museums:

  • Imperial War Museum:
    • HMS Belfast
    • Duxford Airfield
  • Victoria and Albert Museum:
    • Apsley House
    • Ham House
    • Osterley Park Museum
