To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will order an inquiry into the causes of the cancer cluster now identified in West Ham in the London borough of Newham.

Research into the epidemiology of cancer is undertaken by a number of cancer registries and research organisations funded both by Government and independently. Department of Health officials will ascertain whether any study into the incidence of cancer in West Ham has been or is being undertaken, and will discuss the matter with the district health authority.
