§ Mr. Douglas HoggNo. Police surgeons are appointed by police authorities and it is for each police authority and chief constable to ensure that suitable arrangements are made to secure the necessary coverage by police surgeons within the force area. If the hon. Member has a particular problem in mind, he should in the first instance take it up with the chief constable.
