(2) if he will make a statement on the shortfall in qualified commercial airline pilots and the lack of technologically advanced training facilities to overcome this problem.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe Government's policy is that the aviation industry should be responsible for meeting the costs of training whatever skilled manpower it needs. It is 573W important to maintain professional pilot training facilities in the United Kingdom and to ensure a supply of high-quality United Kingdom professional pilots, but the responsibility for funding such training must rest with the air transport operators themselves.
