§ Mr. Michael ForsythThe European Community Council regulation 3929/86 allocated quotas of frozen beef and veal for 1987. Those Scottish local authorities which applied to participate in the scheme were allocated the following amounts:
Local authority Tonnes Central Regional Council 2.935 Lothian Regional Council 8.009 Strathclyde Regional Council 25.509 Orkney Islands Council 0.204 Local authorities are required to ensure that the produce is used in institutional catering in their areas and that the allocations represent an economic benefit to them. Successful applicants must allow their uptake of quota to be monitored by the member state.
