HC Deb 19 January 1989 vol 145 c267W
Mr. Cohen

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he has discussed with officials of the Open university the impact of the under supplementation against inflation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Jackson

An additional £12.9 million is being made available to the Open university over the next three years. Recurrent grant for 1989 of £68.4 million is over 7 per cent. higher than in 1988. Decisions on grant take full account of advice received from the Open university visiting committee, and of regular discussions with officers of the university.
