To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many inquiries into accidents which came within his responsibility have been carried out by the Health and Safety Executive in the past 10 years for which records are available.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

None, although I understand that the Health and Safety Executive has provided assistance to my Department on at least 10 occasions when railway accidents were involved.
