Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will initiate a study of the net energy consumed and resultant carbon dioxide gas release from fossil fuels used in the manufacturing and construction of a 1300 Mw pressurised water reactor and in the manufacture, storage and processing of its fuel and resultant radioactive wastes; and if he will publish a table giving comparable information for a coal-fired station of the same net output and fitted with flue gas desulphurisation technology.
