HC Deb 16 February 1989 vol 147 c312W
Mr. Latham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Commisioner of Police of the Metropolis as to why the Metropolitan police are not prepared to allow Mr. and Mrs. K. Crane of Melton Mowbray, or their solicitors, to see the report of two Scotland Yard officers who investigated the circumstances relating to the death in Spain of Petty Officer John Black, Royal Navy; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

[holding answer 15 February 1989]: Access to the report is a matter for the commissioner. It is a general rule that police reports following inquiries remain confidential.
