§ Mr. GristSupport for social work training is provided as part of the overall support for social services spending through the rate support grant arrangements. Information294W on the proportion of rate support grant used for such purposes is not held centrally. However in 1988–89 a direct grant of £62,813 is being made available to assist in training professional and other staff who deal with cases of child abuse. As regards 1989–90 I would refer the hon.
