To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on British aid to the Caribbean countries.

§ Mr. Chris Patten
In the most recent year for which figures are available (1987), British bilateral aid to the Caribbean amounted to £29.06 million. I recently visited several countries in the Caribbean and heard for myself the appreciation with which our aid programme is received.
