I last met the Israeli ambassador on 26 January.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he last raised with the Israeli Government Israel's responsibilities under the Geneva convention.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has recently made to the Israeli ambassador concerning Israel's treatment of Palestinians suspected of participating in the Intifada.

We continue to take all appropriate opportunities to remind the Israeli authorities of their obligation to administer the occupied territories in accordance with international law and human rights standards.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations he has made to the Israeli Government concerning west bank and Gaza detainees; and if he will make a statement.

We continue to take appropriate opportunities to remind the Israeli authorities of our opposition to the practice of administrative detention.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards Mr. Elias Freij's suggestion to end the Palestinian uprising on the west bank and Gaza, for the purpose of encouraging talks with the Israelis; and whether he will make a statement on the implications for the peace process.

We understand that Mr. Freij withdrew his suggestion after the Israeli decision to deport 13 Palestinians from the occupied territories.
