§ Mrs. ClwydTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the services provided by the Welsh regional health authorities.
§ Mr. GristThere are no regional health authorities in Wales. However, certain services which to be clinically effective and economically viable need to be provided to a population which is greater than that of a health district are designated as regional services by the Welsh Office. The responsibility for planning their capacity and location and for the funding of approved developments rests with my right hon. Friend, whilst the district health authorities which host the regional services are responsible for their operational management.
The services presently designated as regional are:

Pharmaceutical quality control services

The catchment areas of these services vary.
