Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what are his assumptions for low community charge calculations of the level of income of a couple, one of whom is in work and who have no dependent children or other dependants, below which they may be eligible for rebate on their community charge.

Notes:

1. The income figure is the level at which the minimum Community Charge Benefit of 50p a week will be payable for a couple under pension age, one of whom is working, neither of whom is disabled, who have no dependants, and who have savings of less than £3,000.
