To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security when he plans to make a statement on the future of the independent living fund.

Mr. Scott

As explained in the White Paper "Caring for People" (Cm. 849), there will clearly be an overlap between the Independent Living Fund and the intended responsibilities of local authorities which will need to be reviewed. Announcements will be made as appropriate in due course.
