HC Deb 20 December 1989 vol 164 c236W
Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement regarding the current situation in the employment market for disabled people.

Mr. Eggar

The talents of people with disabilities are currently not fully utilised in the labour market. In 1988–89 this Department spent an estimated £350 million, through general and special services, in helping people with disabilities to train for, find, and keep suitable jobs and in encouraging good practice by employers.

A review of the Department's services for people with disabilities is well advanced and a consultative document will be published as soon as possible.
