To ask the Secretary of State for Energy what is his latest estimate of the cost of completion of Sizewell B and the average operating cost per kilowatt hour.

This is a matter for the CEGB. I will ask the chairman to write to the hon. Gentleman.

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy how frequently he intends to review the ongoing construction costs of Sizewell B.

The CEGB is providing my Department with six-monthly progress reports on Sizewell B, including construction costs. Nuclear Electric will continue this arrangement and has made clear that it is committed to completing the station to time and present cost estimates.
