To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps are being taken to eliminate inefficiency in Government advertising campaigns; and if he will make a statement.

The National Audit Office reported to Parliament on 5 December on publicity services for Government Departments and the Select Committee on Public Accounts examined witnesses on 11 December. I await the report from the Select Committee and in the meantime officials are examining the recommendations of the National Audit Office.
