Mr. Hayward

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science what was the spending per pupil for each local education authority in England and Wales for the latest available financial year.

The latest information for local education authorities in England is for 1987–88 and is given in the table. Figures for Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
