§ Mr. FreemanDuring the 1988–89 financial year there were on average 3,520 available beds in Nottingham district health authority. The corresponding figure for 1979 was 4,198. During this period there was a 67 per cent. increase in through put (in-patient per available bed), from 17.6 to 29.5, and a 38 per cent. increase in in-patient and day cases treated, from 81,292 to 112,018.
