§ Mr. Peter LloydA total of 2,896 applications in England and Wales have been submitted claims, in respect of 3,548 weapons, surrendered to the police or otherwise disposed of, for a payment under the Government buy-in scheme for weapons newly prohibited under the Firearms (Amendment) Act 1988.
Of these applicants, 2,690 have had payments authorised and 71 have been refused as ineligible under the scheme; 135 claims have yet to be resolved.
