HC Deb 08 December 1989 vol 163 c428W
Mr. Wareing

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what are the reasons for his decision not to hold centrally information about the numbers of firms adhering to the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act 1944; and whether these compliance levels will be analysed centrally before any recommendation concerning the future of the quota system is made by him.

Mr. Eggar

Information about the number of firms adhering to the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act 1944 is held centrally. However, this does not include the more detailed information about specific industries requested in the hon. Gentleman's question on 6 November 1989 at column478. To assemble and hold such information centrally would be disproportionately costly.

Information on quota compliance levels is being considered in the internal review of services to people with disabilities which this Department is currently undertaking.
