HL Deb 05 December 1989 vol 513 c843WA
The Earl of Longford

asked Her Majesty's Government:

(a) how many prisoners convicted of murder since 1965 have been convicted of a second murder following their release; and (b) how many of these had passed some time in a mental institution or secure hospital.

Earl Ferrers

In England and Wales, since 1965, three persons convicted of murder have been convicted of a second murder following their release on licence. Since that first conviction none of them has spent time in a mental institution or a secure hospital.
